Six arrested, juvenile identified in fatal roadside assault case
Indore: Ratlam police have arrested six people on Saturday and identified a juvenile after a truck driver was killed and his brother critically in a roadside assault The incident took place late on March 19 near a tea stall at Bilpank Phanta, where the truck driver and his brother halted during their journey in separate trucks. According to police, a group of youths picked up an argument that quickly turned violent. The attackers allegedly used sticks, an iron rod, and kicks and punches to assault the brothers.Both the brothers sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Ratlam govt medical college. One of them succumbed during treatment, while the other remains under medical care. The dying declaration recorded in the ICU became the key starting point for the investigation.Acting swiftly, Ratlam police scanned CCTV footage from the area and analysed video evidence to identify those involved. Within 12 hours, six accused were tracked down and arrested. One more accused, currently undergoing treatment, is yet to be taken into custody, while a juvenile has also been identified in connection with the crime.The arrested accused have been identified as Rohit, Rameshwar, Jagdish, Kanhaiyalal, Tulsiram, and Bhoora, all residents of Chikaliya village in Bilpank.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS and further investigation is underway.Police have also seized three motorcycles, two iron rods and a wired stick believed to have been used in the assault. Bilpank police station in-charge Ayyub Khan said the accused were arrested with coordinated fieldwork and quick analysis of available CCTV footage.
