Sack Bandi from Union cabinet, demands KTR
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday demanded the removal of Bandi Sanjay from the Union cabinet over the Pocso case involving his son. He alleged that attempts were being made to shield the accused and dilute the case.
Speaking at a BRS training programme for BLAs under the banner “Naa Booth–Naa Bhavishyat” in the LB Nagar constituency, KTR questioned whether Bandi Bageerath had been formally arrested by the police or had surrendered voluntarily. He demanded that the state govt immediately clarify the circumstances surrounding the case.
KTR alleged that chief minister A Revanth Reddy and Bandi Sanjay were jointly “staging dramas” to divert attention and weaken the case. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” slogan, he said it was ironic that lookout notices had to be issued against the son of a Union minister in a Pocso case.
Questioning who had sheltered Bageerath for nine days after the case was registered, KTR accused Bandi Sanjay of failing to uphold the law despite serving as minister of state for home affairs. “Instead of ensuring justice, he tried to protect the accused. He should be sacked from the Union cabinet immediately,” KTR demanded.
The BRS leader further alleged that there was a covert understanding between the state and central leadership to derail the investigation. He said it was shameful that the govt had failed to respond adequately when injustice had allegedly been done to a minor girl in the state.
“Is there one law for ordinary citizens and another for those in power?” KTR asked. He asserted that the BRS legal cell would continue its legal battle in the matter and vowed that the party would not relent until justice was delivered to the victim. During the meeting, he also urged the party cadre to be vigilant during the SIR process and reach out to new voters. “If we do that, we are going to win the GHMC elections. That will send a message to the public that we are also set to win the next assembly elections,” he said.
