Police register case against group for IPL ticket extortion attempt
Hyderabad: Jubilee Hills police registered a criminal case against a group of persons for allegedly attempting to extort IPL tickets by threatening representatives of a media company.According to police, the case was registered based on a complaint filed by company officials. On May 15, a group led by K Mahesh, a student leader, allegedly trespassed into the company’s office and created a nuisance while demanding tickets for the IPL match scheduled to be held on May 22 at Uppal Stadium.Police said this was not the first such incident involving Mahesh and the group. Last year, they allegedly trespassed into the office, created a disturbance, and extorted 10 IPL tickets. Staff members were also reportedly threatened during the incident.Based on the complaint, Jubilee Hills police registered a case under Sections 329 (criminal trespass) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
