Hubballi: The ‘12th May Sahitya Mela' will be held on May 16 and 17 here, at RN Shetty Hall, said key organiser Basavaraj Sulibhavi."The event is aimed at bringing together writers, thinkers, activists, and citizens to deliberate on the 'Attack on Constitutional Democracy'. The two-day event highlights growing concerns over the state of democratic values in India and the challenges facing the Constitution. It seeks to promote dialogue on issues like equality, justice, freedom, and social harmony, which form the foundation of the Indian democratic system. The Constitution of India represents a vision of inclusivity and equal rights for all citizen. However, recent socio-political developments, including cultural intolerance and divisive tendencies, have raised serious questions about its effective implementation. This event will serve as a platform to examine these concerns and explore ways to safeguard democratic principles," he said, while addressing the reporters."Another organiser Mahesh Pattar said that the programme will feature a series of panel discussions, seminars, poetry sessions, storytelling events, and cultural activities. In addition, book exhibitions and art displays will be organised. Eminent intellectuals like Justice BG Kolse Patil, retired judge of Bombay high court, Justice H Nagamohan Das, former bureaucrat V Balasubramanian, eminent writers like Kum Veerabhadrappa, Mudnakudu Chinnaswamy, Dinesh Amin Mattu, Banjagere Jayaprakash, and social activists like Sayyed Khasim Rasool Ilyas from Delhi, SR Hiremath, are expected to participate," he elaborated.
