Harapanahalli (Vijayanagara): CCTV footage showing a group of masked men carrying sharp weapons moving through Harapanahalli town has triggered security concerns among residents.
The incident came to light after residents were alerted by dogs barking late at night. On reviewing CCTV footage, they noticed visuals of masked individuals moving through the locality. The clips later went viral on social media, adding to public anxiety.
The footage shows three masked men with their bodies fully covered, wearing gloves and headgear, and carrying sharp weapons. In one clip, another masked person is seen throwing stones at barking dogs as the group moves through the area.
In a separate CCTV clip from a nearby house, the suspects are seen entering through a gate and scaling a compound wall. CCTV cameras installed at the residence of MLA MP Latha Mallikarjun also reportedly captured the movement of masked individuals on the night of April 16.
The sightings come close on the heels of a burglary reported at a house in Kashi Sangameshwara Layout, heightening concerns among residents after the footage surfaced online.
Meanwhile, police have been conducting awareness meetings in Kashi Sangameshwara and KHB layouts, focusing on theft prevention and community vigilance. Officials said several persons involved in earlier theft cases in Nilagund, Arsikere and surrounding areas have already been arrested.
Residents have urged the police to step up night patrolling in the town to prevent further incidents.
