Kalaburagi: A case was registered against five persons at the Nimberga police station for allegedly wearing burqas during the Holi festival, playing with colours, and endangering communal sentiment.
An FIR was registered against Prajwal Belamagi, Shantappa Mathapathy, Nagaraj Govangola, Anil Nadagadi, and Channu Dugond, all residents of Nimberga village, on Wednesday.
According to the complaint filed by Samir Avanti, president of the Dalit Sena of Kalaburagi South constituency, the police registered a case and laid a trap to arrest the suspects.
Further, the locals demanded that the accused, who threatened communal harmony, should be arrested immediately and that strict legal action should be taken against them.
