Civic authorities demolished the illegal portion of a house linked to one of the accused in the Holi clash that killed 26-year-old Tarun in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar.

Authorities carried out the demolition under tight police security in the JJ Colony area, where tensions remained high following the clash and residents gathered while officials removed the encroached section.

Residents alleged the demolished property belonged to brothers related to the woman accidentally splashed with colour during Holi, an incident that reportedly triggered the chain of events leading to the assault.

Tarun’s family and neighbours said demolishing one structure was not enough, demanding similar action against other houses belonging to relatives of the main accused who live nearby in the same lane.

Tarun’s father Memraj claimed several relatives of the accused gathered in the lane during the incident, allegedly intimidating residents and preventing neighbours from coming out to help by locking their doors.

Police have arrested another suspect identified as Imran in connection with the case, raising the total number of arrests to seven as investigations into the Holi clash continue.

Officials said the demolition was limited to the illegal portion built over a drain. Authorities stated similar action against encroachments could continue in other areas if violations are found.
