Lok Adalat settles 183 cases worth Rs 1.34 cr in Meghalaya
Shillong: The National Lok Adalat held at the Meghalaya high court in Shillong and all districts of the state settled 183 cases, for a total amount of Rs 1, 34, 86,214, on Saturday.Organised by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA), the hearings were presided over by high court CJ Revati Mohite Dere, who is also the patron-in-chief of MSLSA. Justice HS Thangkhiew, the executive chairman of MSLSA, supervised the proceedings, while Justice W Diengdoh, chairperson of the high court legal services committee, was also present.“In the National Lok Adalat, 242 pre-litigation cases and 383 pending cases were taken up for settlement. Total number of cases taken up was 625, of which 183 cases were settled for a total amount of Rs 1,34, 86,214 only,” E Kharumnuid, member secretary, MSLSA, said.
