Gurgaon: A 50-year-old motorcyclist was killed after a trailer allegedly ran over him on the Pataudi-Gurgaon Road near Farrukhnagar on Wednesday.
A resident of Jodi Khurd village, Omprakash, was returning from Jamalpur on his motorcycle. As he reached the Pataudi-Gurgaon Road, he saw his relative and namesake Omprakash going ahead of him towards Khawaspur on a bike. The former tried to overtake the latter when the accident took place.
A trailer allegedly came from behind at high speed and sideswiped the bike, causing him to fall on the road. The trailer’s rear tyre ran over Omprakash, leaving him with critical injuries. The driver stopped the vehicle a short distance away and fled.
“Passers-by alerted the police on 112, following which Omprakash was taken to the Civil Hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him dead,” an officer said.
Based on a complaint by a relative, Atar Singh, a case was registered at Farrukhnagar police station under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS against the unidentified trailer driver.
In another case, a 32-year-old man suffered critical injuries after an unidentified vehicle hit him in the Sector 37 area.

Rahul Singh from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh, worked at a delivery company in the city.
According to a complaint filed by his wife, Bhavna, Rahul left home for work at 8pm on May 8. She said that his phone became unreachable, and later, another person answered the call and informed her that Rahul had met with an accident and asked her to come to the Civil Hospital.
Rahul was later shifted to Artemis Hospital in Sector 51, where his condition is said to be critical. Police said he was unfit to give a statement.
A case under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 125(a) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of BNS was registered against an unidentified vehicle driver at the Sector 37 police station.
