Five Uttar Pradesh Police personnel died instantly when their SUV crashed into another vehicle on the KMP Expressway near Dhulawat toll plaza.
GURGAON/LUCKNOW: Four Uttar Pradesh police personnel—including two sub-inspectors and two constables from Jalaun district lost their lives in a high-speed road accident on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway in Haryana’s Nuh district on Tuesday morning while returning from a kidnapping-related operation. A Punjab resident who was complainant in the case also died in the same accident.According to police, the deceased cops were part of a team from Kotwali in Jalaun district that had been dispatched to Haryana to trace and recover an abducted man, Bijendra Singh, a resident of Jind.An FIR had been registered under Sections 140(1) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against four unidentified accused.The accident occurred around 10:00–10:30 am near the Dhaulawat toll plaza under Tauru Sadar police station limits in Nuh. The team was travelling in a black SUV registered in Haryana’s Jind district.Eyewitnesses told police that the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle at high speed on the expressway.During the manoeuvre, the SUV reportedly went out of control and rammed into a vehicle moving ahead. The impact was extremely severe, leaving the front portion of the SUV completely crushed.The collision was so intense that all five occupants were trapped inside the mangled vehicle, with metal debris pinning them to their seats.
Local police and emergency response teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information.Station House Officer Shishram of Tauru Sadar police station said it took considerable effort and time to extricate the bodies from the wreckage using rescue equipment.Ambulances were immediately called, and the bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination. Traffic on the expressway was briefly disrupted during the rescue operation.The officers who died Sub-Inspectors Satyabhan Singh, Mohit Yadav. Constables Pradeep Kumar, Ashok Kumar and Amreek Singh, resident of Sangrur, Punjab, the complainant in the kidnapping case who was accompanying the police team.Officials said the team was working in coordination with the Special Operations Group (SOG) and had gone to Nuh to conduct a raid in connection with the abduction case. The accident occurred while they were returning after completing operational work.Senior police officials in Jalaun confirmed the incident and described it as a “tragic loss of brave personnel on duty.” They said that families of the deceased have been informed through official channels, and necessary legal formalities are being carried out.
