IIT Goa student feared drowned at Dharbandora

Ponda: A Sunday outing turned tragic when a 21-year-old IIT Goa student from Ladakh went missing and is feared to have drowned in the Okamb rivulet at Dharbandora. Imtiyaz Hussain, part of a group of around eight youths on a picnic, had ventured into the rivulet behind the Sanjivani sugar factory for a swim, but suddenly disappeared beneath the water.Ponda police, along with personnel from the fire and emergency services attached to the Ponda fire station, launched a search operation but he could not be traced till late evening, said Ponda PI Mohan Gaude.He added that the search operation will resume on Monday morning.
