Capital on alert after terror strike warning
New Delhi: Security measures have been heightened in the city following a terror alert from intelligence agencies warning of the possibility of strikes in key places in central Delhi.
Delhi Police, along with paramilitary and other security agencies, intensified surveillance and security measures at key installations and crowded public locations across the city.
Among the locations placed under the enhanced security cover are the BJP headquarters on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg, where additional armed personnel have been deployed. Barricading around the premises has been strengthened and intensified vehicle screening is being carried out in the surrounding areas.
The alert has allegedly flagged the possibility of attacks targeting high-profile offices and densely populated zones in central Delhi. The inputs mentioned threats involving suicide attackers, vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices, firing incidents and coordinated strikes.
Following the warning, anti-sabotage inspections were launched at important govt buildings, party offices, transport hubs, marketplaces and other sensitive public spaces. Bomb disposal squads, sniffer dog teams, quick reaction units and Delhi Fire Service have also been placed on standby.
Police personnel have been instructed to keep a close watch on suspicious activities, unattended items and vehicles parked near sensitive locations. Local police are carrying out random checks and verification drives.
Sources said all district police units had been directed to remain vigilant and maintain coordination with intelligence and central security agencies, while senior officers continue to monitor the situation and review preparedness across the city.
