RUDRAPUR: The Rudrapur district is set for major development this year, with key projects planned across healthcare, sports as well as urban infrastructure.
A major highlight is the proposed satellite AIIMS at Kichha, which is to be developed on nearly 100 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 351 crore. The 280-bed hospital is expected to take concrete shape this year, significantly improving access to advanced healthcare services in the region of Rudrapur.

Academic sessions are also likely to begin at the medical college in Rudrapur, with the state govt reaffirming its commitment to start classes this year.
To strengthen the emergency services, a 50-bed critical care block has been constructed at the district hospital at a cost of Rs 30 lakh and is expected to become operational soon.
Mayor Vikas Sharma said, "The city would get a new stadium at Modi Ground near the Kichha bypass. Gandhi Park would be redeveloped and underground parking constructed, bringing visible changes to the city's urban landscape."
Rudrapur MLA Shiv Arora said, "This year would mark a milestone for healthcare in the district."
