Indian Railways has achieved another milestone! The first look of India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train is here and we can’t keep calm. The train looks like a dream come true. A few days back, at New Delhi Railway Station, India’s first-ever Sleeper Vande Bharat train was unveiled. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw himself led the inspection of Sleeper Vande Bharat and the first look of the train left people surprised. This train is designed for overnight journeys and is replete with all modern amenities and is all set to be launched soon!
The 16-coach train looks elegant with shiny interiors. The years of engineering and design efforts have paved the way for final launch. Let’s have look at how the train looks from inside:
Passenger comfort

The train demands three cheers for its amenities tailored specially for overnight travellers. The fully air-conditioned coaches are replete with:
Ergonomically designed sleeper berths. The cushioning also looks comfortable
The window shades are adjustable, a feature which is drawing universal praise.

Another prime feature is the deep wash basins to minimise water splashes
Braille-labeled seat numbers is another praise-worthy feature added for the convenience of visually impaired passengers

The coaches are replete with Kavach automatic train protection system for collision avoidance
For real-time communication with crew, there are emergency talk-back units

Speed, capacity and food service Though the train reached up to 180 km/hr during the ongoing trials, the overnight service will operate at around 120–130 km/h.
As far as capacity is concerned, the Sleeper coaches have a total passenger capacity of 823 berths. 611 in 3AC, 188 in 2AC and 24 in 1AC. The train comprises:

4 AC 2-tier coaches
1 AC First Class coach

The washrooms are modern and hygienic. These feature improved spray-prevention designs to offer added comfort to the passengers.

The new Howrah–Guwahati Sleeper Vande Bharat is a significant connection between West Bengal and Assam. It will not only connect the two places but will also reduce the travel times by more than three hours compared to earlier services, which is remarkable.
Calling the new sleeper train a beautiful result of technological ambition won’t be incorrect. This comfort-driven train is a new chapter in India’s rail transport history.
