Randhawa seeks CBI probe into warehousing official’s death
Chandigarh: Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Saturday expressed grave concern over the death of a senior official of the Punjab Warehousing Corporation and called for an immediate probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).Randhawa described the circumstances surrounding the official's death as "deeply concerning", stating that the incident raises serious questions regarding institutional integrity and governance in Punjab. Referring to allegations involving Punjab minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, Randhawa emphasised that the seriousness of the claims warranted a fair, transparent, and impartial investigation.He urged the state govt, led by chief minister Bhagwant Mann, to immediately transfer the case to the CBI to ensure credibility and public trust. "In the interest of transparency and public confidence, an independent investigation is essential to ensure that all aspects of the case are examined without bias," said the senior leader.Calling for accountability, Randhawa stressed that the govt must fully cooperate with investigating agencies and take necessary steps to uphold the rule of law. He cautioned against any attempts to downplay or suppress the matter, noting that such actions would erode public trust.
Highlighting the sensitivity of the case, the former deputy CM of Punjab stated that responsibility must be determined strictly in accordance with the law and based on verified evidence."This is a sensitive matter involving the loss of a life. It is important that the truth emerges at the earliest and justice is served to the grieving family," he added. Randhawa also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and reiterated that a time-bound and transparent investigation was essential to ensure justice and restore public confidence in the administration.
