Haryana to begin SIR from June 15, final list on Sept 22
Chandigarh: Haryana chief electoral officer A Sreenivas on Wednesday announced that the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state will begin on June 15, with July 1 fixed as the qualifying date and the final voter list scheduled for publication on Sept 22.Chairing a meeting with representatives of recognised political parties, Sreenivas urged parties to appoint booth-level agents (BLA-1 and BLA-2) within a week for smooth conduct of the exercise.Representatives of BJP, Congress, BSP, CPI(M), AAP and JJP attended the meeting.Sreenivas said Haryana has 2.06 crore registered voters as of May 12. A total of 20,629 booth-level officers (BLOs) have been deployed for door-to-door verification from June 15 to July 14. However, only 12,917 BLAs have been appointed by political parties so far.He also reviewed preparations with deputy commissioners-cum-district election officers through video conferencing and directed officials to coordinate with resident welfare associations in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Panchkula and Sonipat to facilitate access to high-rise societies for voter verification.According to the schedule, draft electoral rolls will be published on July 21, while claims and objections can be filed till Aug 20. Disposal of claims will continue till Sept 18 before publication of final rolls on Sept 22. Sreenivas said electoral roll mapping work in Haryana had reached 64% completion and appealed to voters to cooperate in preparation of error-free rolls.
