Amrtisar/Ferozepur: Punjab Police have seized 12 kg of ice (methamphetamine) and 14.12 kg of heroin after arresting five people in three separate incidents in the state.
Amritsar police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said on Wednesday that two members of an international drug trafficking cartel—Mohit (19) and Arshdeep Singh (23)—were apprehended with 10 kg of ice and 4 kg of heroin. Both were in direct contact with a Dubai-based drug smuggler to distribute narcotics across Punjab's Majha and Doaba regions and Delhi. Bhullar said the mother and sister of the Dubai-based smuggler are currently lodged in Amritsar Central Jail in connection with a previous NDPS case involving 42 kg of heroin.
Mohit had recently returned from Dubai, where he was allegedly trained and assigned the task of transporting heroin and ice consignments into India.
In Ferozepur, police arrested a man identified as Om, a resident of Leli Wala village, after 10.12 kg of heroin was seized from him. At a checkpoint near Katora village, police arrested two people —Aniket Kumar and Sumit Kumar—and seized 2 kg of methamphetamine, one Turkish-made .30-bore pistol, and a motorcycle. Three separate cases have been registered.
