Yamunanagar: Shooters ambushed a speech-impaired farmer, 50, during his morning walk at Bal Chhapar village on Monday, killing him on the spot.
Satnam Singh was targeted around 5.30am near a field. Witnesses reported that gunmen lying in wait had opened indiscriminate fire upon him and fled by the time the sound of gunshots had pulled villagers to the place.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Rajat Gulia attached a long-standing personal rivalry to the crime's motive based on initial findings. Satnam Singh lived alone; his wife and son reside abroad. The man was in a protracted dispute with several individuals.
Forensic experts and police have collected evidence from the site started reviewing local CCTV footage to identify the attackers. A murder case was registered at Chhappar police station and the body moved to a hospital for autopsy.
