Chandigarh: The Congress on Wednesday hit out at the Nayab Singh Saini-led BJP govt in Haryana over alleged corruption, scams and irregularities in recruitment examinations.
The party representatives claimed that there was a significant increase in such incidents under the Saini govt, severely impacting the future of the youth and eroding public trust in governance.
Addressing a press conference, former speaker of the Haryana assembly and Congress MLA Ashok Arora, along with deputy leader of the Congress legislature party (CLP) Aftab Ahmed and chief whip Bharat Bhushan Batra, accused the BJP govt of failing to ensure transparency in recruitment and examination processes.
Haryana Congress OBC department chairman and MLA Chandra Prakash, MLA Naresh Selwal, and the party's media in-charge Sanjeev Bhardwaj were also present.
The Congress representatives said Haryana's youth were facing growing uncertainty due to rising unemployment and alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted through the Haryana Public Service Commission. They claimed deserving candidates were being forced to struggle as the govt "failed to safeguard merit and fairness".
They also condemned the NEET paper leak, calling it a serious blow to the confidence of lakhs of students and parents across the country.
Party representatives said that repeated incidents of paper leaks in major examinations have raised concerns over the education system's credibility and caused immense mental stress among students.
Targeting the govt over the alleged Rs 600 crore IDFC Bank scam, Congress leaders said it was a "major economic betrayal" of Haryana's people. They alleged that decisions taken during the BJP govt's tenure caused significant financial losses to the state and demanded a fair and high-level investigation into the matter.
They further said the party would continue raising issues related to corruption, financial irregularities and public interest both inside and outside the assembly.
