Khattar Calls For Push To Solar, Storage Solutions
Panchkula: The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) Friday celebrated its 51st Raising Day at Indradhanush Auditorium, marking 50 years of its establishment, with Union power, housing and urban affairs minister
Manohar Lal Khattar as chief guest.
Ministers from partner states, including Haryana’s Shruti Choudhry, Punjab’s Barinder Kumar Goyal and Rajasthan’s Suresh Singh Rawat, attended the event along with senior officials, BBMB board members and heads of power utilities.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by BBMB chairman
Manoj Tripathi, who highlighted the institution’s contribution to power generation, water management and environmental conservation over the decades. A commemorative coffee table book detailing BBMB’s journey and future initiatives was also released.
Addressing the gathering, Khattar emphasised BBMB’s role in irrigation, electricity generation and overall socio-economic development of partner states. He underlined the need to scale up solar power, pumped storage projects and battery storage systems to meet rising energy demand.
The event also featured a cultural programme by students of BBMB DAV School, Nangal, and a pipe band performance by students of Sarthak GMSS School.
