19 habitual drug traffickers detained under PIT-NDPS Act
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Police on Friday executed orders against 19 habitual drug traffickers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, 1988.The action was taken against repeat offenders allegedly involved in organised narcotics trafficking, particularly chitta and heroin trade. The preventive detention orders were executed across several districts, including Shimla, Baddi, Kangra, Solan, Bilaspur, Kinnaur, Kullu, Sirmaur and Nurpur. Shimla recorded the highest number of detentions, with four cases, followed by Baddi with three.Police said the action was part of a focused preventive policing strategy aimed at dismantling drug supply networks in the state. They added that surveillance, intelligence gathering, and backward-linkage investigations were being intensified to identify major traffickers.
