Locals block NH after truck runs over man

Rourkela: Irate locals staged a road blockade on NH-143 in Biramitrapur area of Sundargarh district on Tuesday evening after a man was run over by a truck. The road blockade, which was on till filing of this report, has led to a massive traffic jam, with vehicles stranded on both sides of the highway.The deceased was identified as Ramakant Kumar (32). He was returning home on his motorcycle when a speeding truck allegedly ran over him around 6 pm. Birmitrapur police sent the body to the hospital for autopsy.Protesters were demanding compensation for the family of the deceased and strict enforcement of speed control measures. Police were trying to pacify the agitators.
