Sambalpur: Senior Congress leader and former MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury visited Sambalpur on Sunday to review the probe into the recent murder of a Bengali migrant worker in the district. Chowdhury arrived in the city to assess the circumstances surrounding the killing of Sheikh Jewel Rana, which took place in Ainthapali police station area.
During his visit, Chowdhury inspected the crime scene and interacted with local residents to understand the sequence of events and the conditions under which the incident took place. He said it was necessary to ascertain whether the police version of events was accurate or whether the killing was linked to suspicion over the victim’s identity, particularly allegations of him being a Bangladeshi national.
Chowdhury later met northern range IG Himanshu Lal to discuss the progress of the investigation. Lal said all information sought by Chowdhury had been provided. “All the accused have been arrested,” he added.
