3 persons arrested for killing 78-yr-old man, injuring 3 of his family
Kendrapada: Three persons were arrested on Wednesday for the murder of a 78-year-old man and for injuring three of his family members over a property dispute at Trilochanpur village under Jajpur Sadar police limits on Monday. The accused were identified as Padmalava Rout (48), Sasmita Samal (45) and Nandan Behera (31), all residents of the same village.Police said the trio allegedly attacked Gobinda Ghadei (78), his brother Narendra Ghadei (74), wife Kanaka Ghadei (71), and sons Sanjay (45) and Saroj (44) while they were demarcating a parcel of land to build a house. The accused, who had allegedly encroached upon the land, opposed the demarcation and attacked the family with sharp weapons, leaving them critically injured.Villagers rushed the injured to the district headquarters hospital in Jajpur, where doctors declared Gobinda dead. The others are undergoing treatment.Following the incident, the accused fled the village. “Acting on a tip-off, we arrested them from their hideouts on Wednesday,” said Chinmayee Behera, IIC of Jajpur Sadar police station. The three were produced in a Jajpur court on Wednesday, which rejected their bail pleas and remanded them to judicial custody, police added.
