BHOPAL/JABALPUR: A domestic quarrel over a cup of tea turned fatal in Narsinghpur district, where a man allegedly slit his wife’s throat with a sharp-edged weapon after she refused to prepare tea, police said on Saturday. The accused, who was on the run since the Dec 9 murder, was arrested following a sustained manhunt.
According to police, the incident occurred at the couple’s residence under Kotwali police station limits. The crime came to light after a friend of the victim’s son lodged a complaint, stating that 45-year-old Lata Soniwas found dead in an upstairs room of the house with grievous neck injuries. An offence of murder was registered against an unknown assailant, and investigations soon pointed to deceased's husband, Manoj Soni, who fled after the killing.

TOI , “On the day of the incident, the accused asked his wife to prepare tea, which she refused. This triggered anger, as the couple already had a lot of disputes between them.
The accused is a patient of asthma and used to take 1 medicine with tea. He asked for tea ,but her refusal intensified his existing grudge, leading to the incident.” During interrogation, Manoj allegedly confessed to attacking his wife while she was asleep. Police recovered the knife used in the crime and the clothes worn at the time of the incident from his hideout. The accused was produced before the court and sent to jail.
