Karnataka govt issues fresh orderon internal reservation
Bengaluru: The state govt Friday issued a fresh order implementing an interim arrangement for internal reservation within the 15% cap earmarked for scheduled castes (SCs) in education and public employment, pending the high court's final verdict. The fresh order was issued by the social welfare department after the earlier one on the same matter issued by department personnel and administrative reforms (DPAR) on April 27 was withdrawn. In the interim arrangement, 5.25% reservation was allocated to left-hand communities under Category-A, 5.25% to right-hand communities under Category-B, and 4.5% to other touchable SC communities under Category-C. The order stated that 20% of the vacancies and educational seats available under Category C would be reserved for 59 most backward SC communities. If eligible candidates from these communities were unavailable, the seats and posts would be filled by other eligible aspirants within Category C.The order stated that in recruitment notifications where fewer than three SC roster points were available, all 101 SC communities would be eligible to compete for the reserved posts. The govt also instructed the departments concerned to immediately begin the recruitment process to fill 56,432 approved posts. For implementing the revised quota in recruitment, all departments were directed to follow a 400-point roster system in consultation with the social welfare department. The govt directed the departments and recruiting authorities to withdraw earlier recruitment notifications issued under previous internal reservation orders and issue revised notifications in accordance with the new arrangement. However, notifications for recruitments where competitive examinations had already been conducted would not be withdrawn. The order further directed recruiting authorities to immediately initiate the process to fill 56,432 posts that had already received approval across various departments.
