Sambhajinagar civic body issues notice to AIMIM corporator over alleged illegal constructions
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The civic body has issued a notice to AIMIM corporator Mateen Patel over alleged unauthorised constructions, including a house reportedly used to shelter a staffer accused in the Nashik TCS case. The notice, served on Saturday evening, pertains to three structures located in Naregaon and Kausar Park, including a residential unit that allegedly accommodated the absconding accused. The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) has given Patel three days to respond.CSMC's anti-encroachment department said the constructions are prima facie illegal. "The AIMIM corporator has been asked to submit in writing why such structures should not be removed. If a written response is not received, the matter will be disposed of unilaterally," said Santosh Wahule, the head of the section. The development comes a day after police named Patel as an accused on May 8 for allegedly sheltering the TCS employee, who was arrested in connection with a sexual harassment and alleged religious conversion case in Nashik.Patel could not be reached for comment. However, some AIMIM functionaries questioned the timing of the civic action.
"The alleged illegal structures did not come up overnight. Acting on the instructions of the politicians from the party in govt, the civic authorities are acting with a motive to target Patel," said a local AIMIM politician, requesting anonymity.AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi had earlier said the corporator would contest the matter legally, maintaining that the party leadership was not aware of the developments related to the case.
