Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Members of the Muslim community celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, as they prayed for peace and harmony in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Scores of Muslims gathered at the Rauza Bagh Eidgah and other designated places to offer Eid prayers. After offering prayers, devotees greeted each other and ensued befitting celebrations at their homes.
"The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr is getting celebrated amid a global crisis that is affecting India as well. We prayed for peace and harmony across the globe," said Parvez Shaikh, a private employee.
The festival also saw social bonding with many people outside of the community getting invited for savouring festival delicacies.
"Every year, my Muslim friends invite me on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. I visit their houses one by one over a period of week," said Ashish Sharma, a postgraduate student. The city police had ensured adequate police bandobust and traffic restrictions in a few areas for Eid-ul-Fitr.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, prayer and spiritual reflection observed by Muslims all over the world.
