Man and his two sons killed in Sillod as well caves in
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A man and his two sons died after being buried under collapsed soil while working in a well under construction in Dhanora village of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar's Sillod taluka on Saturday night. The deceased have been identified as 49-year-old Bajirao Kakde and his sons, Adinath (26) and Sham (22). The men were attempting to install precast RCC rings inside the well when the structure caved in.According to the police, the three men had gone to their farm around 9.30pm for the work and did not return home until midnight, prompting family members to search for them."The family members found the collapsed well with soil all over and shouted for help," said Ravindra Thakare, the in-charge of the Sillod rural police station.Rescue operations involving two heavy machines were launched to remove soil and locate the trapped men."We found the body of the father first, around 3.40am on Sunday. The younger son was traced by 5.15am and the elder one a couple of hours later," Thakare said, adding that the bodies were sent for postmortem and later handed over to the family. The well, under construction, was about 100 feet in diameter and nearly 50 feet deep, with water present at a depth of around 40 feet.
The police suspect the loose soil in the area triggered the collapse. "The loose soil inside the well may have collapsed due to vibration from an electric pump or movement of the RCC rings," Thakare said. The Sillod rural police have registered a case of accidental death.
