TTD chief BR Naidu attends consecration ceremony of 71st pontiff of Kanchi mutt
TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman BR Naidu attended the consecration ceremony of the 71st pontiff of Tamil Nadu headquartered Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham on Wednesday.Sri Duddu Satya Venkata Surya Subrahmanya Ganesha Sharma Dravid (24), a Rig Veda scholar from Annavaram in Andhra Pradesh, had earlier served at Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanams at Basara in Telangana and has mastered three of the four vedas- Rig, Yajur and Sama Vedas and has been bestowed with the title Salakshana Saraswati.The 71st pontiff of the Kanchi mutt was bestowed the name Satya Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Shankaracharya by the senior 70th Kanchi mutt pontiff Sri Vijayendra Saraswati at the special ceremony held at the Kamakshi Amman temple and the event coincided with 2534th Jayanti utsavam of Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya, who established Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in 482 BCE.As per the tradition, representatives from various prominent temples across the country including the TTD chairman BR Naidu took part in the anointment ceremony and presented vastrams to the 71st pontiff of the Kanchi mutt on Wednesday.During his brief interaction with Sri Vijayendra Saraswati and the 71st Shankaracharya of the Kanchi mutt, BR Naidu briefed them about the numerous activities initiated by the TTD towards strengthening the propagation of the Hindu Sanathana Dharma in a big way.
