Woman climbs mobile tower over land dispute
Prayagraj: In a high-voltage drama that lasted around three hours in Prayagraj’s trans-Ganga area, a 22-year-old woman climbed atop a 35-foot mobile tower at Samhai village over a land row on Monday morning.Upon being alerted, senior police officials including firemen and SDRF rushed the spot and carried out rescue operation.ACP ( Soraon) Shyam Jeet said: “The Nawabganj police received information about a woman who climbed a 35-foot mobile tower in support of her demand. A team of police and fire brigade rushed to the spot and managed to take her down after ensuring to sort out her grievance.”The ACP said that the woman, identified as Vandana Saroj, daughter of Phool Chandra and a resident of Mamai in Nawabganj, climbed a mobile tower after a dispute with her neighbours over leased (patta) land. She demanded intervention from the concerned officials in resolving the matter. Police officials promptly contacted the revenue department and directed them to examine the case and ensure its early resolution.According to police, the woman reached the mobile tower around 9 am and began climbing it. Villagers who noticed her raised an alarm and informed the local police. The incident caused a stir in Samhai and nearby villages, drawing hundreds of onlookers eager to witness the dramatic scene.PPolice said, “When family members, villagers, and police officials appealed to her to come down, assuring her that her grievance would be addressed, she agreed to the proposal and was safely brought down from the tower.”
