Agra: Four men in their 20s have been arrested in Mathura for allegedly kidnapping two minor sisters and gang-raping them, officials said on Tuesday.
A case was registered at Vrindavan police station on May 1 after a man filed a complaint stating that his two daughters, aged 17 and 15, had gone missing after going to an ashram for a meal on April 30. A search operation was launched.
The SHO concerned said an auto driver picked up the girls from outside the ashram. “On the pretext of taking them to Mathura station, he instead drove them around the city for some time. The driver then took the girls to the hotel, where he and his three associates allegedly sexually assaulted them before dropping them at Mathura Junction,” he said.
The girls reached home on May 2 and narrated their ordeal to their father. An FIR was registered under sections 70(2) (
gang rape), 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and 137 (kidnapping) of the BNS, along with provisions of the
Pocso Act.
Officials said the accused were arrested on Monday. The girls’ statements have been recorded and further investigation is underway.
