Five people were injured after a car rammed into pedestrians in the town centre of Arnold in Nottinghamshire, England, in the early hours of Saturday, with police launching a manhunt for the driver who fled on foot after abandoning the vehicle.According to Nottinghamshire Police, a red Vauxhall Astra struck multiple pedestrians at Market Place in Arnold at around 1.10am local time.One man suffered life-threatening injuries, while four others sustained less serious injuries. Emergency services rushed to the scene and three victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

Driver abandons car, escapes on foot

Police said the driver abandoned the vehicle shortly after the incident and fled the area on foot. Officers have identified a suspect, believed to be a white man, and searches are ongoing to locate him, BBC reported.Investigators believe an argument took place in Arnold town centre shortly before the car was driven into the group.

Police rule out terror angle

Authorities said the incident is not being treated as terror-related and stressed there is no ongoing threat to the wider public.Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow said the incident would have caused “serious concern” in the community and appealed for witnesses and anyone with CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage to come forward.

Roads sealed off during investigation

A large police cordon remained in place on Saturday as investigations continued. Roads around Market Place, including parts of Gedling Road, Derby Street, Hallams Lane and Central Avenue, were closed to traffic.Local MP Michael Payne urged residents not to speculate while police inquiries continue and said the community would support those affected by the incident.
