Baghdad Rocked By Blasts As Iraqis Fire Artillery To Celebrate New Govt Formation

Loud explosions rocked Baghdad on Saturday, sending a wave of panic across the Iraqi capital. Residents claimed they heard several explosions across the city. However, security sources later said that the explosions were due to artillery fire in celebration of the formation of Iraq's new government under Ali al-Zaidi. Al-Zaidi, who is chairman of Al-Janoob Islamic Bank, emerged in the final stages of discussions as one of the leading candidates, bolstered by his economic background and connections within the business and investment sectors.
