KMC Issues Notices To 17 Properties Linked To Abhishek Banerjee In Building Violation Probe

Kolkata Municipal Corporation has issued notices to 17 properties allegedly owned or co-owned by TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, his family, and associated companies over alleged unauthorised construction. The action was taken under Section 400(1) of the KMC Act, 1980, which deals with deviations from sanctioned building plans. Officials said the civic body had initially identified 42 properties, which were later reduced to 17 after scrutiny. Notices have been pasted at all listed addresses, including the Harish Mukherjee Road property ‘Shantiniketan’, directing owners to appear before the executive engineer with sanctioned plans and details of alterations. Abhishek Banerjee has responded strongly, stating he will not back down and is ready to fight the action. The issue has now escalated into a major political flashpoint in West Bengal.
