Uncertainty looms over the October launch of New Garia-Airport Metro's first phase between New Garia and Ruby because construction is yet to begin in access points in two of the five stations that are to be commissioned. While each station is designed to have four access points, Kavi Sukanta and Hemanta Mukherjee stations have only three access points at present due to hurdles in the construction of the fourth. Their construction could take up to three months after the hurdles are cleared.

A major hurdle for the New Garia-Airport Metro corridor’s Ruby-Kavi Subhas stretch has been removed as RVNL managed to dismantle a local club that blocked construction of an entrance for the upcoming Hemanta Mukherjee Metro station. TOI on August 9 reported how this club was creating trouble. The station is part of the 5km Ruby-Kavi Subhas stretch that is veering towards a mid-2022 commissioning.
