Haryana

Haryana is a North Indian state surrounding New Delhi on 3 sides. It was carved out of the former state of East Punjab on 1 November 1966 on a linguistic basis. It stands 21st in terms of its area, which is spread about 44,212 km2.As of 2011 census of India, the state is eighteenth largest by population with 25,353,081 inhabitants. The city of Chandigarh is its capital, which is shared with Punjab, while the NCR city of Faridabad is the most populous city of the state. Another city Gurugram is the Information technology hub and several of multinational companies have their offices based here.

Haryana is one of the most economically developed regions in South Asia, and its agricultural and manufacturing industries have experienced sustained growth since the 1970s.

An accounts officer with the Haryana government allegedly died by suicide after being summoned by the CBI for questioning in a Rs 593 crore bank fraud case. Balwant Singh, posted with HPGCL, is suspected to have jumped from the Haryana Secretariat. This incident occurred hours after the dismissal of HPGCL's CFO for alleged involvement in the fraud.
