Kansas City Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt has been at the helm of one of the NFL’s most successful franchises for over a decade. Until now, the Chiefs have won several Super Bowls and remained a constant presence in January football. While Clark Hunt maintains a steady public profile, the limelight often shifts to his wife, Tavia Shackles Hunt.
As the Red Army continued its 2025 campaign, interest in the Hunt family resurfaced. Tavia Hunt is not simply the owner’s spouse. Her journey in Kansas City, defined by years of community involvement, explains why she has become a key part of the Chiefs’ extended family.
Who is Tavia Shackles Hunt? Her upbringing and early path
Tavia Shackles Hunt was born and raised in the Kansas City area, with deep ties to both Missouri and Kansas. From a young age, she has shown an interest in public engagement and service. Interestingly, she also took part in beauty pageants during her teenage times, and stunningly earned the Miss Missouri Teen USA title before later being crowned Miss Kansas USA.
Those years saw her travel extensively across both states, working with local organizations and communities. Regarding her education, Tavia studied political science at the University of Missouri–Kansas City.
This background raised her interests in leadership, communication, and civic engagement.
How Tavia Shackles Hunt met Clark Hunt
Tavia’s connection to the Kansas City Chiefs began before her marriage. In 1991, she joined the franchise as an intern in the team’s public relations department while still in college. It was during that period that she met Clark Hunt at a team event.
In a September 2022 interview with KSHB-TV, Tavia recalled their first interaction, saying, “At the end of that event, this nice guy named Clark came up and started talking to me. We had a great conversation and learned how much we had in common.” The two began dating soon after and were married on October 23, 1993.
Tavia Hunt’s role within the Chiefs organization
Over the years, Tavia has assumed a different role within the Chiefs' ecosystem. She is the director of the Chiefs Women’s Organization. The group includes players' wives and partners involved in charity work and community outreach throughout KC.
She is also part of the teams' cheerleading program, assisting with evaluations, appearances, and internal initiatives. Her work receives significant attention but plays a key role in defining the league's off-field culture.

Clark and Tavia Hunt had three children: Gracie, Knobel, and Ava. Family remains an integral part of their lives despite the demands of running an NFL franchise. Clark Hunt addressed her contribution in a May 2013 interview on the Chiefs’ official website, saying, “My wife Tavia is an amazing mother. She loves our children and takes every opportunity to teach them about faith, school, and how to treat others.”
Tavia Hunt's journey from Kansas City native to Chiefs insider explains why she remains a respected and enduring figure within the franchise.
