NED vs SL World Cup 2023 Live Score Updates: Composed half-centuries from top-order batter Sadeera Samarawickrama and opener Pathum Nissanka helped Sri Lanka cruise to a five-wicket victory against the Netherlands in their World Cup match on Saturday.This is Sri Lanka's first win in the tournament after having lost their three previous games.Samarawickrama made an unbeaten 91 off 107 balls, while Nissanka scored a 52-ball 54 and shared a 77-run partnership with Charith Asalanka (44) as Sri Lanka overhauled Netherlands' total of 262 in 48.2 overs.The Dutch were earlier bundled out for a below-par score in 49.4 overs, thanks chiefly to the efforts of Dilshan Madushanka (4/49) and Kasun Rajitha (4/50).Number seven Sybrand Engelbrecht top-scored for the Dutch with an 82-ball 70 and added 130 runs for the seventh wicket with Logan van Beek (59 off 75 balls), lifting their team from a precarious 91 for six in the 22nd over.

Really happy to finish the game for my team. We needed a win, we haven't done well in the last 3 games, so I really wanted to win a game for my team and I am really happy. When I went to bat the wicket was not easy, the ball was spinning and the pacers were bowling good line and lengths, my plan was to bat deep and play maximum overs, I did my basics right and hence succeeded. I knew it would be hard in the later part because the wicket was turning and gripping, my plan for others was also to bat deep and told them we can't chase this total in 40 overs. Today it was hard (to bat) against the spinners, the wicket was slow and the ball was gripping.

Sadeera Samarawickrama's unbeaten 91 led Sri Lanka to their first victory of the World Cup following three consecutive losses. His 107-ball stay at the crease saw him smash seven boundaries to help Sri Lanka chase down a 263-run target in 48.2 overs. With this victory, Sri Lanka, who were languishing at the bottom of the table, now jumped a place to be at ninth. Handy contributions from Pathum Nissanka (54) and Charith Asalanka (44) ensured Sri Lanka overcame early hiccups. But it was a partnership of 77 between Samawickrama and Asalanka that brought Sri Lanka under control.
