Applications for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) has hit a new high for the ninth year running with 24 lakh registrations for the 2024- 25 academic year. The entrance exam is conducted for admission to medical/dental and allied health programmes.
The addition of a little over 6,000 seats in government colleges for the 2024-25 academic year, has made the competition marginally easier. There are now 42.2 aspirants for each seat.
The entrance test saw an increase of 3 lakh registrations from last year and this is the biggest jump in the past seven years. It reaffirms the status of the exam being the biggest entrance exam in India.
