NEW DELHI: A passenger stepladder was blown into a parked Air India aircraft during a sudden spell of strong winds and rain at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday evening.The incident took place near Terminal 2, where the stepladder, used for aircraft boarding and deboarding operations, was displaced by strong winds and rolled towards an Air India aircraft parked at Bay 206. Visuals from the airport showed the equipment colliding with the aircraft amid the stormy conditions.
The weather disruption led to ground support equipment blown into three parked Air India aircraft, damaging them and forcing them out of operation.Airport and airline sources said there had been no prior storm or severe weather warning before the sudden deterioration in weather conditions. No injuries were reported in either incident.Videos circulating on social media captured the chaotic scenes as strong winds and rain swept through the airport premises, displacing ground equipment and disrupting operations.
