Geethagopi of CPI secures Nattika, a Kerala constituency reserved for Scheduled Castes with 7093 votes, beating INC candidate Sunil Laloor.Designated as a Scheduled Caste reserved seat in Kerala's Thrissur district along the Arabian Sea coast, the Nattika Assembly constituency ranks 68th among the state's 140 legislative seats, contributing to the Thrissur Lok Sabha region.This SC seat draws over 200,000 voters from coastal fishing communities with significant Dalit populations around 15per cent, achieving turnouts near 76-77per cent, and spans Nattika grama panchayat alongside Edakkazhiyur and other coastal panchayats in central Kerala's littoral belt.It reinforces CPI's consistent LDF dominance, prioritizing fisherfolk welfare against UDF's Congress challenges in this maritime-rural enclave.
