The Madurai East constituency saw TVK's Karthikeyan S's triumph against
DMK's Moorthy P. The TVK candidate earned a total of 118777 votes, and won by a margin of 16547 votes.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s P Moorthy won with 1,22,729 votes, defeating
AIADMK’s Gopalakrishnan, who secured 73,125 votes. The margin was 49,604 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, DMK’s P. Moorthy won with 1,08,355 votes, defeating AIADMK’s P. Pandi, who received 75,583 votes. The margin was 32,772 votes. In the 2011 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s K. Tamilarasan won with 99,447 votes, defeating DMK’s P. Moorthy, who secured 70,692 votes. The margin was 28,755 votes.
