M.R.K.Panneerselvam of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the Kurinjipadi constituency with a margin of 7589 votes. He garnered 76695 votes, while All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate A Bhuvanenthiran came second with 69106 votes.
The ruling DMK has fielded M. R. K. Panneerselvam from Kurinjipadi for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections 2026, setting up a three-way contest against AIADMK’s A. Bhuvanendran and TVK’s Dr Rajkumar.
Kurinjipadi Assembly constituency is located in Cuddalore district. It has been a significant seat for the DMK, particularly under the leadership of veteran M. R. K. Panneerselvam.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s M. R. K. Panneerselvam won the seat with 1,01,456 votes, defeating AIADMK’s Selvi Ramajayam, who secured 83,929 votes.
The margin of victory was 17,527 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, DMK’s M. R. K. Panneerselvam won the seat with 82,864 votes, defeating AIADMK’s Rajendran R, who received 54,756 votes. The margin of victory stood at 28,108 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s R. Rajendran won the seat with 88,345 votes, defeating DMK’s M. R. K. Panneerselvam, who secured 64,497 votes. The margin of victory was 23,848 votes.
