In kerala's Kazhakoottam, BJP's V Muraleedharan recieved 46,564 votes to defeat CPI(M)'s Kadakampally Surendran by 428 votes. Surendran got 46,136 votes.Kazhakkoottam Assembly constituency is a general seat in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala, encompassing urban areas around Kazhakkoottam with IT parks, Technopark, residential colonies, and peri-urban growth shaping its politics. The current MLA is Kadakampally Surendran from CPI(M), elected in 2021 with 63,690 votes (46.04 per cent), defeating BJP's Shobha Surendran (40,193 votes, 29.06 per cent) by 23,497 votes, while INC's S.S. Lal got 32,995 votes (23.85 per cent) amid 69.63 per cent turnout. For the 2026 elections, the participating candidates are Kadakampally Surendran (CPI(M)), T. Sharath Chandra Prasad (INC), and V. Muraleedharan (BJP).
