NEW DELHI: Jakaria Ahmed of the Indian National Congress won the Karimganj North constituency with 1,22,356 votes, defeating BJP candidate Subrata Bhattacharjee by a margin of 26,003 votes. Bhattacharjee secured 96,353 votes. AIUDF's Choudhury Hibbur Rasul Usama Mabrub finished third with 2,038 votes, followed by Independent candidate Samraj Banik with 856 votes.

Karimganj North assembly constituency is one of the 126 seats in the Assam Legislative Assembly. It is a general category seat and forms part of the Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency.
In the 2021 assembly elections, Congress candidate Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha won the seat by defeating BJP's Dr Manash Das. He secured victory by a margin of 8,324 votes, which translated to a 5.7 per cent lead.
According to Election Commission data, Karimganj North had a total of 1,47,166 registered voters in 2021. This included 72,777 male voters and 72,363 female voters, with no third-gender voters recorded.
