Jaleshwar, a general constituency in Goalpara district and part of the Dhubri Lok Sabha seat, witnessed a decisive shift in voter preference. The result marks a significant turnaround from 2016, when the seat was won by AIUDF, highlighting the Congress’s strong resurgence in the constituency.
The election also saw exceptionally high voter participation. Turnout in Jaleshwar reached 95.33 percent, a sharp increase from 81.8 percent in 2021, reflecting strong public engagement. Statewide, Assam recorded a historic turnout of 85.9 percent, the highest since 1951, despite polling being held in challenging conditions.
Women voters played a key role in this election, with participation at 86.5 percent, surpassing male turnout of 85.3 percent. The surge in turnout across demographics contributed to the scale of the Congress victory in Jaleshwar.
