NEW DELHI: BJP's Asim Kumar Sarkar won against TMC's Rajib Biswas from Haringhata, West Bengal.Haringhata is a Scheduled Caste-reserved constituency in Nadia district, one of seven Assembly segments under the Bangaon (SC) Lok Sabha seat. The area is primarily rural and agricultural, with poultry farming and small industries forming part of the local economy. In 2026, TMC is fielding Dr Rajib Biswas, while sitting BJP MLA Asim Kumar Sarkar seeks re-election.In 2021, BJP's Asim Kumar Sarkar won the seat with 97,666 votes, defeating TMC's Nilima Nag (Mallick) by 15,200 votes. In 2016, however, TMC's Nilima Nag (Mallick) won with 94,530 votes, beating the CPI(M)'s Ajoy Das by 21,349 votes. In 2011, Nag (Mallick) also won for TMC by 13,003 votes over the CPI(M). The seat saw a clear anti-incumbency swing against TMC in 2021, and the BJP will be keen to hold the constituency in 2026 as part of its defence of gains made five years ago.
