Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate N Subramanian secured victory in a narrow three-way contest, edging past both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
Subramanian polled 58,795 votes, winning with a margin of 11,039 votes, according to counting trends.
The result saw a tight fight through much of the counting process, with BJP candidate C Uthayakumar finishing second
CPI(M) nominee M Chinnadurai trailed further with a lower tally.
