Dimoria (SC) assembly constituency is located in the state of Assam and forms part of the Guwahati metropolitan region.
Reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), the constituency lies within Kamrup Metropolitan district and includes a mix of rural and semi-urban areas on the outskirts of Guwahati.
Its strategic location near the state’s largest urban center has led to gradual urbanization, while large sections of the population still depend on agriculture, small-scale trade, and local services for their livelihood.
The demographic profile of Dimoria (SC) is diverse, with Scheduled Caste communities forming a significant portion of the electorate alongside other ethnic and linguistic groups.
The constituency also reflects the broader socio-cultural diversity of Assam, with a blend of indigenous communities and migrant populations. This diversity often shapes voting patterns and political alignments, making elections here competitive and closely watched.
Key issues in Dimoria (SC) assembly constituency revolve around infrastructure development, road connectivity, access to quality education and healthcare, and employment opportunities.
Given its proximity to Guwahati, concerns related to urban expansion, land use, and environmental sustainability are also prominent. Flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas, along with demands for better civic amenities, frequently emerge as major electoral issues influencing voter preferences.
